Thinking about a vehicle wrap? Whether it’s for style, protection, or branding, we’ve got the details you need. We asked our very own Ben Barron to break it all down, so let’s get into it.
Outlaw: Why does someone want wrap and what exactly is it?
Ben: Wrap is a vinyl material that is adhered to the vehicle’s exterior using heat. This is a great way to customize your vehicle, giving it a unique look not offered off the showroom floor. You have the option to have a full vehicle wrap or just graphics.
And the reason someone would want one? To stand out, turn heads, and yeah… be a total badass!
So why not just paint your vehicle instead of going through this process?
Would you use a sharpie to repaint your walls? Probably not!
Non-OEM paint jobs will not hold up like the OG. It will chip, fade, peel… ew. Wraps can also be removed and refreshed over and over, keeping OEM paint original. Not to mention that vehicles with after-market paint highly diminish in value. Good luck getting a decent trade-in after a repaint. Those values drop faster than free tacos at a car meet! When you choose to get your ride wrapped, it never loses value.
So, what can Outlaw offer drivers in terms of wraps?
Some work we can offer includes matte, iridescent, chrome, and gloss colors! Basically, you can match your ride to anything: your kicks, your gaming setup, or even your pet parrot (if that’s your vibe). We don’t judge!
Is this going to damage the vehicle’s paint?
Nope! The straight OEM paint/clear coat holds up perfectly fine. Butttt, non-OEM paint (like any repaired painted areas) may have issues, so be prepared in those situations!
What is the durability of a wrap?
Your wrap should last around 3-5 years before needing to be changed, but this depends on the care and exposure to elements. Once you start noticing cracks or lifts, come back to us! Otherwise, the paint underneath will get damaged. The most common reason your wrap can get the most damage is due to sun exposure, possibly cooking it onto your paint. If you don’t have a garage, better grab the biggest blanket you can find!
Another way of extending the longevity of your wrap is getting ceramic coats and keeping your car clean. Overall, your cars’ wrap will thrive off your amount of care. That is, don’t park next to the cart corrals at H-E-B.
Are there any special care instructions for wrapped vehicles?
As convenient as it is to take your car through the local car wash, making time to hand wash it with love will pay off in the long run. When dealing with certain finishes like matte and satin finishes, I recommend using a specialty cleaner like the Chemical Guys Meticulous Matte Detailer Spray. This cleaner is made for water spots on those finishes.
If the car wash will damage your wrap, so will a pressure washer and a buffer. So keep it simple with some soft detergents and gentle hands.
What will happen if I want to remove a wrap or graphics later?
Wraps are great for the indecisive! You can change and remove them at any time, if you make sure it’s done by a professional, like Outlaw Off-Road + Performance.
Can Outlaw help customers design my graphics?
Absolutely! Our design team is here to help your vision come to life. We offer full vehicle wraps in hundreds of colors and finishes, including any partial graphics you can think of!
